After looking at a couple of websites that contain Mikala Dwyer’s artwork, I still don’t really know what type of art she creates. Though, one thing I realized is that most of them are 3D and abstract. I am also under the impression that she produces contemporary artwork; artwork that’s more modern and from the present-day. They are very basic; with basic colors and shapes, but the formation of it seems complicated.
Mikala Dwyer mostly creates art pieces that would be 3D. She makes her artwork very complex from my point of view. However, some of the artworks I've seen from Dwyer, I would be confused, but I guess there is a meaning and an emphasis of that meaning behind what she has done, to her perspective. I find it quite unique... Out of all the artist I looked through and have investigated, her pieces are the most odd pieces I've ever seen, but in a good way. That is because she uses up so much room and she puts objects together just to come up with something, not appearance wise, but just in an art way that we don't look at. One of the pictures I looked at and focused on the most was [http://www.darrenknightgallery.com/artists/dwyer/artist.jpg], and just looked at the objects she used and the kind of shapes and lines she emphasized on.
I agree with certain things DELG said, but I also do believe that Mikala Dwyer tackles issues of society in her artwork, and produces pieces of artwork accordingly. By looking at the artworks, how she executed them and the titles of the different artworks, it can be seen that she produces contemporary pieces of modern artwork in her own way; pieces that are tackling different social issues. Maybe issues she has faced personally, or issues that society as a whole suffers from. I'm looking forward to working with her, as her style is quite unique and very abstract; a style where you can express yourself indirectly without having to explain what each element in your artwork is about.
She probably needs a lot of room for her artworks. That was the first thing that I thought when I saw her artwork. Her artworks are rather strange, something I haven't seen yet. I think that it is hard to understand the artworks without talking to the artist. However, they do leave some kind of impression on me. I don't know yet whether or not I like the artworks. Most of them are really interesting, and all of them certainly unique.
What I would not be able to do is to take down the artworks after a certain time. After one has worked on something for so long, I think that this person would want to see some evidence of how the time was spent.
After looking at her work i was not rendered breathless by the pieces that she created. Far from it, i was actually not very impressed. I prefer more traditional forms of art (perhaps something 3-D).
Also her art pieces seem to be too literal as it seems too obvious to me (as an informed critic).
Her work is very modern and contemporary. That may appeal to others with a 2008 way of viewing art, but ithink that "contemporary artists" are doing what anyone else can so and calling it art, it does not take skill, just a particular way of thinking.
An example of this is in a series called 90210, when a girl visited her friends house after the went to an art gallery and she said "i love the art you've got on your wall, who's is it?" and he replied "my 5 year old niece's".
Most of her art work are abstract and 3D. even though her artwork are complicated, they're still attractive and eye catching. what i like the most is the shapes and the colors she uses in her artwork. I think that her artwork is so unique and original.
After searching on Miklala Dwyer i noticed how weired her work is. Although its weired i really liked the way that she uses her imagination and how open minded she is. I really like 3D art work so that gave me a reason to like her work. what makes her work amazing is how complex her work is. I look forward in meeting her in real life tommorow.
